Bid to support St Wilfrid’s Hospice

St Wilfrid’s Hospice is one of many charities feeling the pinch of social isolation on the high street.

It’s 12 stores usually account for over £2 million in sales, which helps fund the charities vital work providing support to the terminally ill in our local community.

With all shops remaining closed the e-commerce team became more important than ever.

Daniel Lopez, E-Commerce Manager for St Wilfrid’s said,

“We have adapted quickly to comply with government guidance in the warehousing we have on terminus road.

It has been challenging, especially when we are busy preparing orders, but our priority has always been to keep everyone safe.

As more people turned to shopping online we have been listing hundreds of new items every week on Amazon and eBay, resulting in sales over £20,000 in the last few weeks. This income is so important to help fund the care and support work of our hospice.

At first video games, DVDs, and books were our top sellers. We have sold over 200 puzzles, often given as gifts for relatives staying safe at home.

However, to our surprise, china and ornaments have been the strongest categories overall.

One notable sale was a beautiful Wedgwood china set donated by a convent of nuns, which was snapped up by a couple of international buyers, helping us raise over £1600 in three days.” today to find a pre-loved item to purchase and shop safe knowing you helped your local hospice to make a difference to local lives.
