Chichester residents are being invited to put their knitting skills to good use and join in Co-op Funeralcare’s monthly coffee morning.
The Knit and Natter club, set up by Co-op Funeralcare in Chichester, aims to bring together local residents to knit small items for premature babies in the local hospital.
All items of clothing which are knitted by the group will be donated to the premature baby unit at St Richards Hospital in Chichester.
Alongside bereavement groups and charity fundraisers, the Knit and Natter coffee morning is one of many ways that Co-op Funeralcare supports the local communities in Chichester. The home also supports a number of local causes in the area, which include The Apuldram Centre, Rotary Club harbour community services team and Southbourne Lions Club.
Sarah Coates, funeral director at Whites Chichester, commented: “I decided to set up the Knit and Natter coffee morning in the hope that we could help foster closer community cohesion in the area, bringing together local residents with similar interests.
“We are starting by knitting cardigans and other small items of clothing for babies in the local hospital’s premature baby unit.
“The coffee morning is open to all knitters, whether they’re complete beginners or experts. It’s an opportunity to learn while supporting a lovely local cause.”
The Knit and Natter coffee morning is held on site at Whites funeral home on the second Wednesday of the month, from 10.30am-12.30pm.
