A body which was found in Chichester Canal last Thursday is not being treated as suspicious police have said.
Sussex Police attended the canal in Chichester after reports of a person’s body in the water at around 11am on Thursday, June 27.
At the time, a police spokesman said: “Sussex Police received a report of a body in Chichester canal in Stockbridge Road at 10.50am on Thursday.
“An area cordon has been put in place while the body, with the assistance of West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, is being retrieved.”
Police said the death of the unknown man was not being treated as suspicious: “This death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner’s officer will be continuing enquiries.”
