Community News & Views | Walking festival returns for sixth year

Now in its sixth year, Selsey Walking Outdoor Festival offers the chance to discover the amazing wildlife, history and natural scenery of this unspoilt tip of the Manhood Peninsula.

New for 2019 is the Selsey Open Gardens event featuring more than 20 private and community gardens along with plant sales, teas, ice cream and conserves.

The Weald and Downland Museum will show how to make corn dollies and play traditional games. Dr John Mason, from the South Downs Planetarium, will not only give one of his legendary lectures but also lead an astronomy walk along the seafront.

If you want to experience Tai Chi Chih, snorkelling, learn why there are so many homes built from railway carriages, discover the Selsey Tramway, have a guide to aquatic life, learn about marvellous moths from the RSPB, discover many thatched and historic buildings in the area, learn how Natures Way get food to your plate, and, of course, enjoy cycle routes, lovely walks and eat nice cake – then SWOF is for you.

They even have a guided tour of Chichester’s city walls in our Walk like a Roman event.
