CHICHESTER Lions Club celebrated its 52nd birthday with a charter dinner at the Chichester Park Hotel last Saturday.
In attendance was the Mayor and Mayoress of Chichester, Cllr Martyn Bell and Toom Bell, members of the three Rotary clubs of Chichester and fellow Lions from Bognor Regis, Midhurst, Southbourne , Worthing and Littlehampton.
The cost of this celebration came not from donations to the Lions but from members as every penny donated is used to benefit those less well off.
Lion president Joan Tidy presented the mayor with a donation of £400 towards his charities.
She also outlined many of the activities of the club, saying: “Chichester Lions is famous for collecting, sorting and recycling useable spectacles to many parts of the world and has donated over £70,000 to sight-related charities.
“Our Easter egg raffle will support Sage House dementia hub so please look out for the boards and buy a ticket, and at the October half-term come to our model railway exhibition.”
