Chichester Conservation Volunteers have clocked up 36 years of tree planting, woodland management and habitat improvement at a variety of sites around Chichester.
A healthy natural environment is one of the best allies in the fight to halt climate change and improve air quality and most Sundays you can find the team enjoying a day out in the Sussex countryside working on a wide range of habitats including woodlands, hedgerows, grassland, waterways and wetlands.
The tasks are very sociable with plenty of time for tea and chat, and they get to see little known areas of Sussex and learn a lot about the ecology of the worksites from the knowledgeable wardens who guide them.
As well as learning countryside skills it’s an opportunity to improve physical fitness and mental health and wellbeing while enhancing the environment.
New volunteers are always welcome and there are jobs for all abilities, from a little light snipping to heavy woodland work.
