Bears stand in the way of Chi as road to Wembley kicks off

Chichester City get their FA Cup campaign underway off the back of two wins from two to start the season.

Miles Rutherford’s side head to Southern Counties East Premier side Bearsted tomorrow (3pm) in the extra preliminary round of the world’s oldest cup competition.

Chi will be full of confidence ahead of the trip to Kent after kick-starting their SCFL Premier season with two wins out of two.

First was a morale-boosting 2-0 victory over Newhaven at Oaklands last weekend.

A penalty from Dave Herbert and debut strike from Tiago Andrade sealed the win for Chi against the only team to do the double over them last season.

It could have been more for Rutherford’s side with Scott Jones having a goal ruled out for offside and new signing Gicu Iordache spurning a golden opportunity after rounding the goalkeeper.

The Romanian made up for it on Tuesday night when he bagged a brace in a 6-0 victory over Hassocks. Scott Jones, Herbert, Jimmy Wild and Rob Hutchings grabbed the other goals. It leaves Chi top of the table and full of confidence ahead of the trip to Maidstone.
