CONSERVATIVE Gillian Keegan has been elected as the new MP for Chichester.
Gillian won by more than 22,000 votes and she becomes only the third female MP in West Sussex.
She said: “I’m absolutely delighted. I’ve spent a lot of time working towards becoming an MP. But to become an MP in Chichester where I have lived for seven years is really a dream come true.
“It is an enormous privilege to become a Member of Parliament for this constituency and I pledge myself to represent all the people irrespective of who they voted for today.
“Thank you to the people of Chichester for the confidence you have shown in me. I will seek to repay that trust by representing you and my party to the best of my ability in Parliament.”
Gillian won the seat after fellow Conservative Andrew Tyrie announced that he would not be standing for re-election, after 20 years in the role.
