Ferbrache downs Eagles

Ben Ferbrache hit 60 not out to help Middleton 1st XI to a superb victory at the home of the Crawley Eagles in Sussex Premier League 1st XI Division 2. Middleton won the toss and elected to field at the Cherry Lane Playing Fields and James Thompson was in fine form with the ball, taking two wickets for 17 off seven overs, as the home side scored 153 all out (50.3 overs) . In reply the visitors hit 154 for 5 (41.3 overs) with the impressive Ferbrache top scoring as they won by five wickets. Bognor Regis 1st XI lost by four wickets to Three Bridges XI in Sussex Premier League 1st XI Division 2. The home elected to bat and scored 143 all out (40.5 overs). Joe Ashmore hit 42no to top score for Bognor before the visitors took to the crease. They scored 144 for 6 (40.1 overs) with the best bowling figures coming from Andrew Greig, who took two wickets for 13 runs from eight overs. Joe Ashmore, Richard Cox and Rob Willway took a wicket each. Bognor Regis 2nd XI suffered a defeat at Billingshurst in Sussex Premier League 2nd XI Division 3 (West). Billingshurst won the toss and elected to field and the visitors’ Joshua Broad top scored with 76, with Sayed Bablu Ahmed hitting 35 to add to the total. Billingshurst won by three wickets with a score of 161 for 7 (39.4 overs) but not without Sayed Bablu Ahmed doing his bit with the ball. He took four wickets for 31 runs from 11 overs; while Andrew McGregor took two wickets for 19 and Dan Winslow bowled six overs and took one wicket for 24 runs. Nick Smith smashed 114 as Eastergate 1st XI chalked up a winning draw against Ram 1st XI in West Sussex Invitation League Division 1. Eastergate won the toss and elected to bat and Smith got down to business and reached his century. He was ably assisted in the run tally by Justin Poyser, who scored 46 before being bowled Sandeep Shivamadaiah (seven-49) and caught by the talented Hersh Tank. In the Ram innings the home side had Tom Stannard to thank for excellent figures of four wickets for 47 runs. Tank scored 92 but was denied a century when he was caught by Josh Cole from the bowling of Rejo Raju.
