Spate of house burglaries last month prompts police appeal

CHICHESTER Police are appealing for witnesses after a number of house burglaries were reported to them by scared locals.

Officers said they are looking for any residents who may have seen any suspicious behaviour taking place after two reported burglaries have led them to believe they were linked.

Officers were called to a house in The Drive on Thursday afternoon of May 26. They said that sometime between 10am and 3.40pm, the property had been broken into deliberately and subjected to an “untidy search” for goods to steal.

A number of gold jewellery items were taken including rings, necklaces and bracelets. Another home in Maplehurst Road was also targeted between May 22 and June 2.

Again an “untidy search” was taken out and jewellery was stolen.

Detective Constable Emma Fields said: “Following the burgalry in The Drive two men were seen running towards a white car in Chestnut Road which was driven by a third man towards Lavant.”

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting reference 1025 of 26/05.
