It’s top versus bottom as flying Chi look to extend their five point lead

Chichester City’s promotion charge continues as Miles Rutherford’s side look to extend their lead at the top to eight points.

After months of the SCFL Premier top spot changing hands, Chi have strung together a run of seven wins from eight in the league.

That purple patch has put City five points clear at the summit and in prime spot to secure promotion to step four of the non-league pyramid for the first time in their history.

That run continued last weekend with a comfortable 2-0 win away at Loxwood. Gicu Iordache and Dave Herbert both scored in the first half to seal the victory.

Next up for City is a trip to bottom side Eastbourne United tomorrow (3pm) to face a side who have won just twice all season.

Fellow SCFL Premier side Pagham are in need of a win as they have tasted victory just once in eight in all competitions.

The last week saw a 0-0 draw against Broadbridge Heath in the league followed by a 3-0 defeat by Bostik Premier side Burgess Hill in the Sussex Senior Cup.

Lions welcome struggling Little Common to Nyetimber Lane tomorrow (3pm).
