Storytime was held at Waterstones in Chichester for author Simon Philip on Saturday.
I Really Want The Cake is a children’s book written by Simon and illustrated by Lucia Gagiotti.
Crowds of children attended the event at the bookshop in West Street to hear Simon bring his book to life.
Simon was born in Chichester and after graduating from Exeter University, he became a teacher, which rekindled his love of children’s literature, particularly picture books, so much so that he had a go at writing his own.
Deciding he was better at writing stories for children he left the world of education to live the life of a writer.
Lucia is a London and Italy-based illustrator and graphic designer. She graduated from New Accademy of Art in Milan with a BA in graphic design and a specialisation of illustration. She moved to London in 2005 and has been working freelance since then.
The book details the story of a little girl who tries to resist the temptation of eating a delicious cake after her mum has left a note saying that she must not eat it.
I Really Want The Cake is out now (Paperback, £5.99. ISBN 9781787412149).
